The team will be utilizing Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) which communicates wirelessly with the state department of transportation through 2G networks. This system will relay a text message indicating a wrong-way driver has been detected so that the state traffic management center can display a warning message on the proper dynamic signs to warn right-way drivers and allows them to alert on site law enforcement officers to be dispatched accordingly. This system will follow the data communication protocols of the National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP).
