Meet your TAs
Dr. Kyle N. Winfree is an NAU Alumni. He received his degree, some undefined time ago, in Physics. After graduation, he was the outreach coordinator and teacher for the American Indian Mobile Educational Resource (AIMER) program at NAU. From there, he went to the Astrogeology Branch of the US Geological Survey. His work there included web development and space science, studying the south polar cap of Mars. After starting a family, he moved to Philadelphia, PA to attend graduate school. He completed his masters degree in Robotics at the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of Dr. Katherine Kuchenbecker. Immediately following completion of his masters degree, he started a doctoral program at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. His early doctoral work focused on stroke survivor gait rehabilitation using robotic exoskeletons. With his classmate Dr. Paul Stegall and under the direction of Dr. Sunil Agrawal, he designed, fabricated, and developed the ALEX2 leg exoskeleton system. His final doctoral work however focused on gait assessment and rehabilitation of those with Parkinson's disease. Before taking his faculty position at NAU, he completed a two year postdoctoral research position in nursing under the guidance of Dr. Ingrid Pretzer-Aboff. His current research interests include design, fabrication, and data analysis of wearable devices for rehabilitation, assessment, and mobility aids for children and adults with a variety of disabilities. He also has a keen interest in wearable devices to assess physical activity in healthy individuals. His lab consists of a varied set of students from disciplines including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy. His collaborators are primarily in Biology, Health Science, Psychology, and the engineering disciplines. He is always recruiting students for his lab. For more information on that, please see his lab website at www.nau.edu/winfreelab.
Let's start with the EE476 syllabus, or the EE486 syllabus, please always start with the syllabus!
