Educational Water Tunnel

Project Description

Northern Arizona University lacks an educational water tunnel for use in flow visualization. The purpose of this project is to construct a water tunnel for conducting flow experiments. The device will be designed with the attributes of commercially available models in mind.. The tunnel must have a viewable testing section with minimum dimensions: 8"x8"x20". This project must cost less than $5000 to complete and will be usable by students without maintenance for the next 5 to 10 years.

Progress Thus Far...

The team has successfully built and tested a water tunnel for laminar flow. There are a few modifications that need to be made, but overall, the project was a success. The modifications include decreasing the power to the dye injection system and fixing up a few leaks using silicone. These tasks will be passed on to the next semester's Water Tunnel Team.
