Problem Statement

The team will design, analyze, and construct a model airplane to enter into the SAE Aero Design West Competition Advanced class. the aircraft must be fully-functional and reamin intact for a full flight circuit.

Requirements

  • Data Acquisition System(DAS) that measures takeoff and landing distance
  • No metal propeller
  • Braking system
  • Pilot must be AMA certified
  • Rotary or lighter than aircraft not permitted
  • Fuel must be common grade required by competition
  • Stored potential energy other than engine is not allowed
  • Aircraft may not be pushed manually by a team member to achieve takeoff
