Project Background:

Energy is vital to our daily lives and over the coming decades more individuals will gain access to energy and enjoy a higher standard of life. Global energy demand continues to surge due to improved living standards. As a society we need to develope new technologies which will allow us to maximize the use of our renewable resources and to minimize the impact on our environment. One of the largest producers of toxic greenhouse gasses in our day is the gasoline powered car. The Northern Arizona University Eco Car team will test our knowledge and practice of engineering to create the most efficent electric Car at the Shell Eco-marathom competition.

Shell Eco-marathon challenges student teams from around the world to design, build and test ultra energy-efficient vehicles. With annual events first in the Americas, then Europe and Asia, the winners are the teams that go the furthest using the least amount of energy.
