The Botany Club is a group of folks that have an interest in plants but are not necessarily botanists. We join up every week in the NAU greenhouse to work on cool projects, usually involving the propagation of plants. We have helped reestablish the teaching garden adjacent to the greenhouse and we are currently helping bring guest speakers to NAU like ethnobotanist Mark J. Plotkin. Our most noted event is our yearly plant sale in the fall where we sell all the plants we propagate during the school year.
But Botany club is not all work. We have many fun activities like food socials, usually one or two per semester. We have also taken trips to places like the Huntington Botanical Garden in Los Angeles, Lotus Land, in Santa Barbara and Biosphere, near Tucson.
Upcoming Event
Botany club is helping hosting guest speaker Mark J. Plotkin and many others November, 7, 2009 at 5:00PM in the Cline Library. Botany Club will also be selling plants and giving people information on Botany Club there.

The NAU Student Chapter of the Society of American Foresters has been selected as the Outstanding Student Chapter for the 2008/2009 academic year! Some of the students and the chapter’s advisor, Dr. Denver Hospodarsky, will be on hand to accept this award at the SAF national convention in Orlando, FL, in early October. The NAU School of Forestry has long had one of the largest and most active student chapters in the nation, but the last year was truly an outstanding one for the chapter, thanks in large part to the great leadership of 2008/2009 chapter president, Erin Saunders, and her fellow club officers.
