  • Using Technology To Help The Environment. Rui is developing a transmission censoring algorithm for use in a wireless network that will reduce energy consumption and increase the lifetime of remotely-located, battery-powered wireless sensors.

“I am motivated by the possibility this project brings to everyone in our society-better communication and lower structure cost based on limited resources. The most rewarding aspect of this project has been my ability to overcome different challenges. Some of the challenges included exploring the sustainability of different codes and implementation. Through study and experimentation we have been able to come up with better solutions. I have learned that these solutions are not just about area and environmental monitoring but also they are about energy efficiency and creating butte versions of monitoring systems that fit our social and environmental goals.
