Project Planning

The Colorado Plateau Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit  (CPCESU) provides funding and technical assistance for research and education on natural and cultural resources on the Colorado Plateau. It does so by approving "Task Agreements" that describe the act of funding a new project proposal.  Below find the required information for the specific agencies you are working with

General Information

A Task Agreement is always between these three entities:

1. Federal Agency (one or more)
2. A Non-federal researcher and/or institutional "Partner"
3. The CPCESU

Administrative Guidance: Allowable Costs Under CPCESU Agreements

The following 2 federal assistance forms must be completed by the Partner for each project:

1. SF 424 - Application for Federal Assistance -(Instructions for SF 424)
2. SF 424a - Budget Information - Nonconstruction Programs

2009-2014 Cooperative Agreement

Please Note: This is a working DRAFT of the Agreement, we are awaiting signature compellation and partner requested wording corrections from the National CESU Office, once the FINAL document is available it will be posted.  Please check back regularly.

For all Agencies:

The Partner Institution must submit a competed Project Abstract or Summery Form to the CPCESU along with the proposal. (An electronic version should be sent to CPCESU@nau.edu to be included in the CPCESU web database)

     Necessary forms for each Task Agreement:
      When submitting a proposed Task Agreement, you will complete the two forms (below) appropriate for
      your project in cooperation with the Federal Agency representative with whom you are working:


    Intermountain Region NPS projects:
