The restructured college was established in 2004 in response to a changing environment – one where the most promising opportunities for discovery and innovation exist at the intersection of disciplines. Today the college is reaching across disciplines to find answers to complex and challenging problems in twenty-first century science and technology. For students, this diverse research community provides a vibrant teaching and learning environment that redefines possibilities, encourages critical thinking, and develops creative leaders.
For the college to deliver multi-disciplinary, broad-based training to the next generation of leaders in academia, industry, and society, there are two fundraising initiatives critical to bring the college’s infrastructure in line with its vision for the twenty-first century:
These LEEDS rated building projects are also tangible examples of the college’s commitment to sustainable research and design. Each building will house award winning research programs led by some of our best and brightest faculty, for example, the Global Climate Change Laboratory in the new Laboratory Building, and the Sustainable Energy Systems research in the new Engineering building.
