Scholarship Opportunities for Undergraduates
A number of scholarships are awarded each spring to outstanding NAU students enrolled in a major program of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and who will be returning the following Fall Semester. Each year the awards are announced during the Mathematics & Statistics Honors Week reception in April. Application Process. Scholarship deadline: Tuesday, March 31, 2009.
The following is a list of available scholarships and approximate award values which are subject to change each year.
The Vesto M. Slipher Scholarship (Mathematics Award)
Charles E. Little Mathematics Education ScholarshipEligibility:
Outstanding Junior or Senior majoring in Mathematics or Statistics. Must have at least two semesters of remaining course work to be completed.Expected Value: TBA
Eligibility:
Outstanding Junior majoring (full-time enrollment) in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, US citizen
Career aspirations to be a high school mathematics teacher
Preference to Arizona high school graduates
Approximate Value: $500
Eligibility:
Outstanding Sophomore, Junior or Senior majoring in Mathematics or Statistics or Mathematics Education
Preference will be given to graduates of high schools in Coconino County
Approximate Value: $700
Eligibility:
Deserving Junior or Senior majoring in Mathematics or Statistics
Preference will be given to candidates maintaining or exceeding a cumulative GPA of 3.0 who demonstrate scholastic merit and/or financial need
Approximate Value: $1000

- Arrange for two Scholarship Recommendation forms to be filled out and returned. Recommenders should typically be professors in your Mathematics or Statistics courses. Forms are available in the Department Office (Adel Mathematics Building, room 107) or are available at the following links:
