Instructors for 2008-2009
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Northern Arizona University invites applications for one or more non-tenure track, one-year instructor positions for the 2008-2009 academic year. Positions will begin 18 August 2008. Instructors teach up to 15 credit hours (usually four courses) per semester during the academic year. The salary for a new instructor is $31,000. This is a one-year position; however, there is the possibility of renewal contingent upon department need, individual performance and the availability of funding.
Minimum requirements include: a master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or mathematics education completed by the contract starting date; a strong academic record; and at least one year of experience teaching mathematics and / or statistics courses. Applicant must be able to begin work on 18 August 2008.
Preferred qualifications include: evidence of high quality teaching; the ability to teach a wide variety of lower-division courses; strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills; and recent recipient of master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or mathematics education. Applicants should have the experience and / or commitment necessary to work with a diverse population.
