New Book by NAU Geology Professor Ron Blakey
Ancient Landscapes of the Colorado Plateau with Wayne Ranney
The Department of Geology at Northern Arizona is located at the doorstep to the Grand Canyon, the San Francisco Volcanic Field, and the redrock of the Colorado Plateau. Unsurpassed exposures of rock teach students and researchers alike about how continents are built and how their surfaces evolve over time.
Our undergraduate and graduate programs combine strengths in field and analytical techniques with interdisciplinary approaches to learning about the interactions among geological, biological, and chemical components of the Earth. The Department’s 16 professors and their students solve questions related to chemical and physical processes deep within the Earth and those that operate at its surface.
