AGC Foundation Scholarships

The AGC Foundation offers both undergraduate and graduate level scholarships to students enrolled in ABET or ACCE-accredited construction management or construction related engineering programs.

Eligibility:

Undergraduate Scholarships: College sophomores and juniors enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time, four or five-year ABET or ACCE-accredited construction management or construction-related engineering program are eligible to apply. High school seniors and college freshmen are not eligible.

Graduate Scholarships: College seniors enrolled in an undergraduate construction management or construction-related engineering degree program, or others possessing an undergraduate degree in construction management or construction-related engineering are eligible to apply. The applicant must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a graduate level construction management or construction-related engineering degree program as a full-time student.

How much money is available?

Our renewable undergraduate scholarships are worth $2,500 per year for each year of undergraduate study, up to a maximum of $7,500. Over 100 new scholarships are awarded each year. Best of all, there is no application fee.

The Saul Horowitz, Jr. Memorial Graduate Award and the Heffner Scholarships for Graduate Students are worth $7,500 each, paid in two installments of $3,750.

Ben C. Griggs and American Subcontractors Association Scholarship

The Ben C. Griggs and American Subcontractors Association Scholarship was established in 2002 to support students in the Department of Construction Management. Students must be citizens of the United States of America, be full-time undergraduate construction management students, and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Students must be an Arizona High School Graduate.


Chuck Orr Construction Management Scholarship

The Chuck Orr Construction Management Scholarship fund was established in 2003 to support students of NAU who have declared their major to be Construction Management. Students must be admitted to the Construction Management Program and enroll as a full-time student. First preference will be given to students who have a Grade Point Average of 2.5 or better (scale A=4.0) who have graduated from an Arizona High School, been active in clubs and/or organizations associated with their major or the Associated Students of NAU, and who have demonstrated leadership ability.


Schuff Steel Scholarships

The Schuff Steel Scholarship fund was established in 2007 to support students majoring in Construction Management. Students must a junior or senior in good standing and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to students having financial need and aspiring to work with structures after graduating.


Scott Williams McFarland Memorial Scholarship for Construction Management

The Scott Williams McFarland Memorial Scholarship for Construction Management fund was established to support students majoring in Construction Management. First preference will be given to non-traditional students who have a G.P.A 2.5 or better, who have been active in engineering clubs and organization, and who have demonstrated leadership ability. Any determination of financial need, if applicable, must be made by the Office of Student Financial Aid.


Thomas J. and Dolores C. Ballew Scholarship (for Native Americans)

The Thomas J. and Dolores C. Ballew Scholarship fund was established in 2006 to support students majoring in Construction Management. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher, be members of recognized American Indian tribes with demonstrated financial need, and must be actively participating in clubs or associations promoting the American Indian culture either on or off campus.


Kitchell Native American Scholarship Fund for Construction Management students

The Kitchell Native American Scholarship Fund for Construction Management Students was created to support full-time junior or senior Native American students enrolled in NAU’s Construction Management Program. Students must have and maintain a grade point average above a 3.0 and have financial need. Students must also provide proof of enrollment with a federally recognized Native American tribe or Alaskan nation.

Scholarship recipients are strongly encouraged to:

  • Write a thank you letter explaining how this scholarship will benefit them, and how having this degree will impact the student’s future success. 
  • Seek an internship with a construction company to foster their experience and qualifications as a construction professional.
  • Hold membership in the Student Chapter of the Associated General Contractors.
  • Participate in Toastmaster International or other similar activities to foster development of public speaking opportunities.

Mike Kolling Memorial Scholarship

The Mike Kolling Memorial Scholarship was established in 2008 by Achen-Gardner Engineering, LLC to support a full time student pursuing a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering or Construction Management. Students must be in good academic standing.

Two bi-annual scholarships are available(up to $1,500 each) to support students who meet the following criteria:

  1. Enrolled full-time at Northern Arizona University;
  2. Pursuing a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (CENE) or in Construction Management; and
  3. Good academic standing.

Valley of the Sun Chapter of CFMA

(Construction Financial Management Association)

The Valley of the Sun Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) will award an educational scholarship up to $2,500 in value for each semester. (Summer sessions do not qualify.)

We acknowledge that one of our primary goals is education. We also acknowledge the need for qualified employees in the construction field. These needs will be filled largely by students graduating from our area schools. We hope these scholarships will prove to be an investment in the Arizona field of construction by providing promising construction professionals with some financial assistance while completing their studies.

The applicant should demonstrate the following qualities and skills:

  1. Has received or will receive a diploma from an accredited high school.

  2. Have a grade point average between 3.00 and 4.00 (if already enrolled in college or technical school) or GPA between 3.40 and 4.00 (if graduating from high school).

  3. Demonstrate a relationship to CFMA or other qualified construction association by a letter of recommendation from a member or an employee of a member company.

  4. Have a declared major in accounting or business.

  5. Show professional or civic involvement in the community.

Candidates applying for this scholarship for first time will be given preference over those who re-apply.

CFMA VOS welcomes former recipients of this scholarship to re-apply by submitting the information requested above plus an update (progress report) stating your progress toward your educational goal.
