Civil Engineering

Civil engineers have the opportunity to work in a variety of fields, from hydrology and the design of sanitary systems to the development of transportation systems and the design of the structures we use every day. If you want to have a diverse and challenging career while working with the public and society, this is the field for you.

Job Prospects & Salaries

Employment in Civil Engineering is expected to grow, nationwide, between 2004 and 2014 by 9 to 17%.  Likewise, Environmental Engineering is expected to grow even faster at about 27%. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual starting salaries for BS graduates in 2005 was $43,679 for civils and $47,384 for environmentals.
