Traveling to Flagstaff by Air:
You can fly directly into Flagstaff via Phoenix, but there is only one airline that serves Flagstaff. It is
Mesa Airlines, which is an affiliate of US Airways. This affiliation means, however, that you must book
your entire trip on US Airways to make the Phoenix to Flagstaff connection. The US Airways website
(http://www.usairways.com) is better, as other booking websites have trouble with the Flagstaff leg.
Once in Flagstaff, please take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. (The hotel will reimburse you for the
cost of this very short taxi ride.) If there are no taxis waiting outside the terminal, call “Friendly Taxi” as
they do operate at all hours. Their phone number is: (928) 774-4444 or (800) 853-4445. You can also
rent a car. The following are your car company options at the airport: Alamo 800 462-5266, Avis 800
331-1212, Budget 800 527-0700, Hertz 800 654-3131, and National 800 227-7968.
You can likewise fly into Phoenix and then either rent a car or take a shuttle up to Flagstaff. If you drive
yourself, the trip north to Flagstaff on interstate I-17 is about 2-1/2 hours. The shuttle service is called
Open Road Tours. Their toll free number is 1-877-226-8060. Their website address is
http://www.openroadtours.com/ and follow the “shuttle” link. They have five departures from the Phoenix
airport to Flagstaff each day and the trip is 3 hours in length. You should make your reservations via
phone (1-877-226-8060) or the website ahead of time. Tickets are $42 one way and $76 round trip.
There is a cheaper shuttle from Phoenix called Flagstaff Express. Flagstaff Express tickets are $29 and pick up at NAU, however, they don't have as many shuttles as Open Road Tours. Their website is http://www.flagstaffexpress.com/.
